When the little man was born he gave us quite the scare. First he had a 3 inch cut on his arm. Then we spent most of the day in recovery with them pricking his heel before and after every feed as well as taking blood from his hand to check on his sugar levels. The worst was the when one of his nurses detected a heat murmur. This lead to his doctor coming in and discovering that she had not been informed that he was even born, and ordering a chest xray and ECG. So off they went with my little boy for these tests. Upon his return I was told that he needed to be placed into the NICU for observation. So for 23 hours he was down the hall instead of with me. A second ECG was done at 4 days old before we could leave the hospital. Then we never heard much about it.
A couple of weeks ago I got two pieces of mail from two different hospitals for the little man, one for another ECG and the other for the follow up. I will finally met his pediatric cardiologist after more than 6 months and 3 ECG's. So little man and I spent the day mostly just the two of us. Hubby met us at the hospital and stayed for half the test before he had to go to work. The tech was surprised the little man took neither a soother or a bottle. We ended up finishing the test with him on my lap nursing. But considering it was about 45 min long he did every well. From what I understand the hole is still there but smaller than before.
We had crazy wind yesterday and it reeked havoc on trees and hydro lines so instead of having a break at the library (closed for having no power), we went for lunch instead. Then off to another appointment for a checkup and vaccinations. So my solid little boy is a healthy little man weighing in a 17lbs 9 oz and 67 cms longs. He seems to get the vaccination sleepiness the next day so he is currently zonked out while his sisters seem to both be in a argumentative mood today.
Life with 3 kids, a mess of a house and working towards eventually making it the home of our dreams. If we ever find the time and the energy.

stillness
Its quiet in the house for once. I was able to convince Banana that she needed to cuddle up with me to stay warm while I put the little man down for his nap. Two kids out for a bit but little man doesn't like to sleep lately unless there is a nice warm furnace next to him. So not even ten minutes after I left he was up. But a long cuddle and he was out again. Tired boy. Now if they both sleep for another hour then I will be set.
Easter was good but very busy. Lots of visiting with Aunts and Uncles and girl cousins. Of course way too much food was consumed by all. Each day the kids and I were out of the house early and over to Gramma and Boppa's were the festivities were taking place. The girls have never had "easter" at home and the hunt usually only happens if the cousins come down.
Ten minutes and the boy is up again...

Contentment
I know that I don't need at lot right now to be happy. The thing that seems to be missing the most is "me" time and "our" time. With three young kids "our" time with just hubby and myself does not happen very often. As we bed-share with the baby all the time and more than half the time with Banana we don't even get that quiet time late at night when everyone else is asleep.
I don't need much; a hot cup of tea, a chance to have some quiet time to read or knit. Sometimes its a chance to just get out of the house for a while. i was very lucky when Banana was small as I was able to get out and walk a lot. To the library, to the store etc. I even was able to have a standing commitment of my knit night. But it worked with our schedule then. The ones now don't usually. They start at an earlier time and just being that bit further out a lot of times it just doesn't work.
And like all quiet time in my house it doesn't last very long as the baby has decided not to sleep very long.
