Tae was given a sweater for christmas last year that just needed to be seamed and then the neckline knitted on. So I am definitely not the only one who has given presents that are still on the needles. It was a 1-2 years so I had lots of time to get to it as he was only 2 months so. So it got set aside and ignored.
I pulled it out the other day and was determined to finish it off and then the extra yarn could go back to my mom and I could really use the room for all the other yarn goodies that I have. I noticed that the sides of both the front and the back were different but I wasn't about to tear the entire thing apart and reknit it. I did end up changing how the neck was done. I don't understand why one would put a seam in the neck of a baby sweater of you don't need to.
The arms, well that was a different story, while they matched each other while lying flat once attached to the sweater they wouldn't. The pattern has it so that one side of the arm is in stockinette while the other is in garter. And as the two sleeves are done the same if attached one would have the garter showing while the other would have the stockinette. So I pulled them out and am slowly starting to reknit them. Having a little boy who is not feeling well and does not want to be put down is not helping.
The kids and I are having dinner with Mom and Dad on Saturday and I really want to have it done so a little man can wear his new sweater for his grandma. I really hope that I'm not up most of the night on Friday trying to finish it.
